The purebred division of Coyote Flats Charolais started in 1990 under the G.M. Lohues Charolais, with a purchase of 9 cows from Mark and George's Uncle, Ben Stroeve (B&D Stroeve Charolais). The herd then began to grow as heifers were kept. Bulls were sold by private treaty up until 2015. In the fall of 2014 we purchased the Dale Jorgenson herd. In spring of 2015, we purchased a select group of pairs from P&H Ranching. Then in 2016 we had our first annual bull sale. Since our first bull sale we sold both yearling and two-year old bulls with no hold over bulls sold in our sales as two-year olds. In fall of 2021 we purchased a select group of cows from Char-maine Ranching. This brings us to our current herd size of 275 purebred females. These 275 cows calve in two separate groups. The first group calves Jan- early March to provide our yearling bulls. The second group calves mid April-June to provide our two-year old bulls. Our bulls sell the second Friday of December annually.
